About 50 flights into and out of San Francisco International Airport have been canceled today as a result of the continued closure of a runway following the deadly Asiana Airlines crash on Saturday, an airport duty manager said.
About 25 departing flights and 25 arriving flights had been canceled as of about 9 a.m., duty manager Charles Navigante said.

Navigante said flights are being canceled by airlines to “thin the operation a little to improve reliability of other flights.”
Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crashed on Runway 28L late Saturday morning, resulting in the deaths of two 16-year-old girls and injuries to about 180 other people. The wreckage is still strewn about the runway, and there is no estimate for when it will reopen.
He said delays could range from 30 to 90 minutes, and that passengers are encouraged to contact their airlines for real-time delay and cancellation information.
