A Denver based chain restaurant wants to move into a highly-visible Market Street location. Will San Francisco’s notorious set of barriers to chain retail keep this project from moving forward, or will San Franciscans soon be enjoying fast-casual burritos as they wait for the J Church?
This week, Grub Street’s Jay Barmann penned a thorough assessment of restaurant chain Chipotle‘s efforts to move into the former Home restaurant at Church and Market.
The franchise, which launched in 1993, has 1,430 locations across the country. Nine of those are in San Francisco.
There are petition drives against and for a Chipotle at this location, which San Franciscans will recall was once a Boston Market.
Which side of the issue do you fall on?
