Did the vendors who did the actual printing and designing of this “book” get paid, or not?

If the vendors never got paid, that can be construed as a donation to the Not Really Ed Lee “Campaign.” If the vendors got paid and Pearce never raised the money to pay himself and got a loan to pay off the vendors, he’s not a very intelligent businessman.
