Locals in the know have been aware for several decades of the nepotism and lack of effort going on with MUNI’s mechanics. Goes back well beyond the clocking in wearing pajamas episode.

Stealing bikes off the racks is nothing new. I was on a 22 going north at Broadway early evening abut 10 years ago when a couple of street people thought they could lift a bike at the stop sign. Unfortunately the operator was one of the “old school” Italians (lots of them on the 30 back in the 60s and 70s) who gave them a piece of his mind while madly gesticulating; he scared the mortadella out of them.

btw the irony of seeing a guy with a “hands off muni drivers/we do the work” is quasarlike given recent events.
