A man was shot during a carjacking in San Francisco’s Ingleside neighborhood on Monday afternoon, a police spokeswoman said today.
The 52-year-old victim and his friend had been driving in a red Ford and had stopped at a store in the 100 block of Holloway Avenue at about 2:25 p.m., police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman said.
While inside the store, they heard the car’s engine start and went outside to find a stranger behind the wheel, Newman said.
When the victim went over to the vehicle, the suspect pointed a gun out the window and shot him, according to Newman.
The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening, Newman said.
The suspect drove off in the car, which was found abandoned a short time later nearby in the 100 block of Majestic Avenue. The suspect had apparently let the car roll down a hill and it struck other vehicles on the street, Newman said.
The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, had not been found as of this morning, she said.
