The good news is that it’s easy to start collecting the synthetic tops for running by signing up for races and collecting the giveaways — frankly, most of mine now go directly into a bag bound for clothing donations.

Personally, I don’t like to carry water and prefer to stop off at water fountains on runs longer than 90 minutes or so. I figured I’d cover this stuff next month when discussing routes.

But yes, seriously, thanks for pointing out that your mileage and water needs may vary! That is always true, and all the more reason to plan as much time as possible for training ahead of your goal race to work out all these kinks and learn your own limits well in advance.

I’d recommend getting some clothing made of synthetic materials that help wick wetness away from the body and dry quickly. Also – for runs over 10 miles, I like to carry a water bottle with me, or wear a water belt, so I don’t have to stop/ spend time looking for a water fountain or corner store. Your mileage and water needs may vary.
