The San Francisco Police Department bomb squad responded to an Outer Richmond home this morning where suspicious devices found by a person cleaning the residence of their recently deceased relative were deemed harmless, a police spokeswoman said.
The devices, later identified as old road flares and electrical fuses, were found at a home in the 500 block of 40th Avenue between Anza Street and Geary Boulevard shortly before 9:40 a.m. this morning, San Francisco police spokeswoman Danielle Newman said.
The relative who found the suspicious items initially called Recology for recycling, but was instructed by Recology officials to contact San Francisco police.
The police department’s bomb squad was deployed and determined the devices to be harmless, Newman said.
