A Daly City man who allegedly evaded capture for several hours last week in a California Highway Patrol pursuit by jumping into the water near AT&T Park has been charged with multiple misdemeanors, San Francisco prosecutors said today.
Noah Aisha, 20, was charged today with evading an officer, hit and run, resisting and obstructing a police officer, obstructing and delaying a peace officer, and driving on a suspended or revoked license according to District Attorney’s Office spokesman Max Szabo.
In addition, he was charged with failing to pass on the right, an infraction, Szabo said.
Aisha was arrested Thursday after a California Highway Patrol officer spotted a motorcyclist riding on the shoulder on the Interstate Highway 280 King Street offramp, according to San Francisco Police Sgt. Andraychak.
When the officer tried to pull the motorcyclist over, he did not stop.
The suspect, who was later identified as Aisha by the CHP, fled first on his motorcycle and then on foot before jumping into a channel of water at Fourth and Berry streets, not far from the ballpark and McCovey Cove, Andraychak said.
He remained in the water and evaded capture for several hours, surrounded by San Francisco police and fire. He climbed on to a derelict pier and then retreated to a pipe underneath it before crisis negotiators were able to persuade him to surrender around 7 p.m., Andraychak said.
Szabo did not have information on when Aisha was scheduled to appear in court.
