Rapper Kanye West and reality TV star Kim Kardashian got engaged at San Francisco’s AT&T Park on Monday night, setting social media sites abuzz.
West proposed to Kardashian, who was celebrating her birthday Monday, with a large message on the ballpark’s scoreboard saying “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!”
Kardashian this morning tweeted a photo of a large engagement ring on her finger with the AT&T Park scoreboard in the background.
Members of her family were also there, including her mother Kris Jenner, who posted a picture on Instagram of herself with San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer and thanked him for hosting the proposal at the ballpark.
Giants spokeswoman Shana Daum said she could not give out any details about Monday’s event, but according to AT&T Park’s website, rental packages for the ballpark run up to $200,000 for an event.
Daum said the park is often the site of engagements “but probably not many that use the whole stadium like Kim and Kanye.”
She said the ballpark hosts many other events, including weddings, during the Giants’ offseason and on days during the season when the team isn’t playing there.
Many people took to Twitter to congratulate the celebrity couple on the engagement.
One user wrote, “so kim and kanye got engaged at AT&T park lol that’s why SF is the best most magical city out there.”
Others tweeted unkind comments.
“Kanye rented out The SF Giants stadium to propose to Kim K making the Giants season the 2nd most awful thing to happen there this season,” one user wrote.
West is in the Bay Area this week for a tour for his album “Yeezus,” with shows tonight at the SAP Center in San Jose and on Wednesday at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
