
A pedestrian fatally struck by a car this morning near the San Francisco Zoo has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 87-year-old Louis Van Velzen.
Van Velzen, a San Francisco resident, was walking near Sloat Boulevard and 43rd Avenue when he was struck shortly before 7 a.m. Emergency responders began CPR and transported him to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The collision remains under investigation by San Francisco police.
