Have you recovered from a jam-packed 4th of July weekend? Maybe? Good. Here’s your weekend:
Kitten Chloe Chaidez
Friday: With a sophomore LP on the horizon and a whole new musical direction that saw frontwoman Chloe Chaidez swap coasts, Kitten is poised to take over Bottom of the Hill with a whole new brand of new wave and 80s-tinged jams. The major move from LA to NYC has been a fairly quiet affair but Chaidez and co are anything but when set loose onstage. Expect the type of commanding presence and determination that musically invigorates.

What: Kitten at Bottom of the Hill
When: Friday, July 10th; doors: 8:30pm, show: 9:30pm
Where: Bottom of the Hill: 1233 17th St
Cost: $12; purchase tickets here

PhonoDelSolHeadline
Saturday: SFAppeal favorite Phono del Sol returns to rock your weekend with local heroes Sonny and the Sunsets and Tiaras as well as heavy-hitters like King Tuff and Tanlines. Food factors just as heavily as music with the addition of more food trucks than ever, including everyone’s favorite glutton vehicle Bacon Bacon. Spend a day in the (not so sweltering) sun surrounded by your fellow music fan in a surprisingly comfortable space — Potrero del Sol Park.

What: Phono del Sol, featuring Tanlines, King Tuff, and more
When: Saturday, July 11th; noon-7pm
Where: Potrero del Sol Park: 25th St and Utah
Cost: $15 and up; purchase tickets here

Macy Gray
Sunday: It took far too long for me to join the Macy Gray fan club. It wasn’t until a chance set catching her with New Orleans’ funksters Galactic as her backing band to see the soulful affect in action, the playful lilts and seriously show-stopping command of everything from trad ballads to the more avant garde. The fact that Macy Gray is giving her entire weekend to Yoshi’s with two shows a day Saturday and Sunday means there’s no excuse not to see Gray and fall further in love with the “I Try” crooner who’s done so much more than 99’s On How Life Is LP.

What: Macy Gray at Yoshi’s Oakland
When: Sunday, July 12th; shows at 7pm and 9pm
Where: Yoshi’s Oakland: 510 Embarcadero West
Cost: $47 and up; purchase tickets here
