It’s probably the Warriors’ lethargy in Game 2 but this week wasn’t something to write home about. This weekend’s music, however, is stellar. Check it out:
Friday: Amen Dunes is a confessional treasure. If you’ve had a hard week and need some bittersweet catharsis, Dunes is your guy. Immerse yourself in his haunting vocals and confidence in revelation. His latest album, Cowboy Worship, is perhaps his most self-assured yet; its opening track coming on like Walt Whitman set to waltz. Dunes is perfect for those still reeling from that Sufjan Stevens show last week.

Saturday: Hometown heroes The Campbell Apartment named themselves after the quintessential Grand Central bar in NYC, which should give you a mild indication of how they sound and their overall vibes. They’re more They Might Be Giants’ New York than the more bizarre sounds coming out of the Big Apple, though. Try to divorce yourself from the total paradox of a local band with an East Coast name and you’re in for a mellow evening of quality rock.

Sunday: I can’t stop recommending No Joy. Whenever they’re in town, I am going to tell you to go see them. This time I’m going to tell you to dig on their post-rock vibes. Yeah, I know Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd deliver the vocal goods but if you close your eyes and lose yourself to their fuzzed out guitar, it all feels like one finely tuned machine; truly the sum of its parts. Dig it.
